Karen L. Werstler

Karen L. Werstler, a beloved wife, mother, and talented musician, passed away on March 1, 2024, at the age of 77 in her hometown of Canton, Ohio. She was born on July 24, 1946 to Lloyd and Edna Horner (Foltz). Karen had a passion for music from a young age, showcasing her talent by playing various instruments and leading choirs throughout her youth.
Karen's musical abilities extended beyond her school years, where she played drums in the East Canton High School band, sang in the a cappella choir, and served as a choir director at Center Church of the Brethren. Her musical talents, alongside her artistic aspirations, were a testament to her creativity and dedication.
After meeting her husband, Roger Werstler, in college at Kent State University, Karen's life took a different path. Finances redirected her dreams from becoming an art or music teacher to a career in restaurant management. Despite this change, Karen remained a devoted wife and mother, known for her kindness and compassion.
In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her son Joseph Werstler;sister Marilyn Lang; and an infant brother. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Roger Werstler, her son David Werstler (Samantha), daughter Julie Werstler, grandchildren Tabitha and Mae, great-grandson Elliott, sister Louise Reiss (Ed), and numerous friends who will miss her dearly. The funeral service will take place on March 12, 2024, 11:00 AM at Reed Funeral Home 705 Raff Road SW Canton, OH 44710 with Scott Hajba and Shannon Ortiz officiating. Visitation will be held at the same location Monday from 5:00-7:00 and and from 10:30 AM to service time Tuesday. Interment Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Louisville, OH.
Karen's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, remembering her for her musical talent, her dedication to her family, and her warm and caring spirit. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
