Robert William Whitmarsh, "Bob", age 87 of McDonald, Ohio, died on July 9, 2015 at 7:02 AM at Hospice House in Poland. He was born on March 29, 1928 in Niles, Ohio, the son of the late Harry and Laura Beebe Whitmarsh. Mr. Whitmarsh was an honorably discharged US Air Force Veteran during peacetime. Bob worked in shipping at Lordstown General Motors for 22 years, retiring in 1991. He also worked at NCR in Dayton for 18 years prior to working at GM. Bob was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church in Niles, where he sang in the church choir, belonged to the Airplane Club and the church bowling league. He also was a senior warden at the church. He enjoyed being a little league coach when he lived in Dayton. He also worked for the Board of Elections in Niles and also belonged to the Niles SCOPE and was their choir director. Survivors include his wife, the former Arlene Lake Adkins, whom he married on February 10, 1951; his sons, William Robert (Debra) Whitmarsh of McDonald, and David Keith (Marsha) Whitmarsh of Niles; two grandchildren, Jill (Mark) Malik of Cleves, Ohio, and Stephanie (James) Cennamo of Smithtown, NY; and four great-grandchildren, Sidney Malik, Josie Malik, Morgan Cennamo, and Macie Cennamo. Other than his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his two sisters, Ellen Bissell and Ambrozine Cooper. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 348 Robbins Avenue, Niles, Ohio 44446, where Rev. Donald Hall will celebrate Robert's life. Family and friends may visit at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Church or to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
