Robert Williams (80) currently of Portage, formerly of Bronson, Michigan, passed away Saturday May 25, 2024, at home, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. He will be greatly missed.
Robert was born April 30, 1944, in Oxford, Alabama, the son of Robert Elbert and Edna Vesta (Anderson) Williams. His life was defined by family and his love of nature. He was a gentle soul.
He enjoyed his career as a residential painter prior to which he was butcher and manager at BuyLow Grocery store, Sturgis, MI. In his retirement, Robert found much joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom he happily shared his love of nature. He was an avid gardener looking forward to each harvest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking on glaciers. He restored furniture and antique farm implements. Robert was a friend to all that met him and was blessed with a large extended family of siblings, nieces, and nephews.
On November 7, 1962, in Kalamazoo, MI. Robert married his sweetheart Judith Ann (Tooley) Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Judith, his two sons, Anthony Williams, Robert (Tammaria) Williams Jr.; daughter, Lori (Ron) Miller; three grandchildren Elizabeth (Christopher) Edwards, Hunter Williams and Madeleine Miller; five great-grandchildren; brothers, D (Ann) Williams; six sisters, Althea Traylor, Charlotte Stevens, Ann Salisbury, Alice Robeson, Dorothy Hicks, Helen Brown; numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by five brothers, James Williams, LJ Williams, George Williams, Bill Williams, James Robert Williams; three sisters, Ruth Coppett, Mildred Green, Audrey Williams; grandson, Conner Williams.
Friends will be received Friday, May 31, 2024, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Adams-Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo, MI where a service will follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or Kalamazoo Humane Society.
