Robert T. Wilson

Robert T. Wilson, better known as Bob, age 71, passed away on August 26, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Robert Wilson and Alfreda Marteny.
Bob dedicated much of his life to serving his community through his work in law enforcement. Robert proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he embarked on a fulfilling career at Eastern Correctional Institute, reaching the distinguished rank of Major before retiring. His commitment to public service was exemplary, demonstrating unwavering dedication to his role within the county government.
Robert was a devoted member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was an integral part of the Wicomico Sheriff Department, where he entered the Police Academy at the age of 47, eventually becoming a Deputy Sheriff. Beyond his professional pursuits, Robert was a warm and welcoming presence at the Salisbury Baptist Temple, where he served as a greeter.
Robert found happiness in the simple pleasures of life with his wife; where they found enjoyment in the backyard with the birds, fish pond, pool, and the plants, which brought joy for them both. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, building car models, and tending to his yard where he spent many happy hours. His rose bushes and landscaping were things he was very proud of. Bob's loyal companion, his dog Adonis, was a constant source of companionship and comfort throughout his life.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife with whom just celebrated 47 wonderful years together, Esther Wilson, his children Kim Tyree (Fred) and Bill Funkhouser (Cyndi), grandchildren, Kensie, Caleb, Seth, Kelbie, Willow, great grandchildren, Theodore, Nova and Nox, his brother Rodney Ross, and his beloved dog, Adonis. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christy McKenery and brother, Paul Wilson.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10am at Salisbury Baptist Temple, 6413 Hobbs Road. Friends and family are invited to visit an hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Wicomico Memorial Park.
