Robert Wittmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kessler Fahrenkrug Funeral Home - Neenah on Jan. 30, 2026.
Robert E. Wittmann, 88, of Sherwood, WI, passed away on January 28, 2026 surrounded by his family, after his long battle with dementia. Born on November 17, 1937, in Appleton, WI he was a devoted husband to wife JoAnn for over 64 years and a loving father to Renee, Jody, Robert, Jennifer and Jenelle.

In his early years he was an active 4-H leader specializing in agricultural/gardening and he was incredibly proud of his champion cow that he brought to the Wisconsin State Fair.

Bob was always working and creating something, or helping someone. He spent most years working as an owner/operator of Wittmann Landscaping, Forrest Run Pet Cemetery, and Lakeshore Estates Development Company. He was known for his business knowledge, landscape design, craftsmanship, leadership and compassion. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family, rarely missed a game (both Packers or kid's sporting event), and always had time for dessert.

An avid fisherman, deer hunter and sturgeon spearer Bob loved being on the lake whether it was on the waves or frozen beneath his feet and just enjoyed being in nature. He loved evenings at the ballpark whether playing or volunteering, the family was always there!

He is survived by his wife JoAnn, children Renee Wittmann, Robert (Catherine) Wittmann, Jennifer (Jesse) Lenz, Jenelle (Thomas) Wittmann-Mendez, grandchildren Rahel Holinbeck, Maggie and Sean Wittmann, Mya and Reese Lenz, Kirin Mendez, Great granddaughter Tenzin Holinbeck, brothers and sisters Joseph (Olivia) Wittmann, Caryl Busse, Art Wittmann, Marilyn (Conrad) Knier, Kris (Steve) Kratzky, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents Irma and Joseph Wittmann, daughter Jody Wittmann, brothers George, Richard, and Tom Wittmann, sisters-in-law Linda Wittmann, Pat Wittmann, Annie Schmidt, Elaine Stommel, brothers-in-law Larry Busse, and Tom Murphy.

A funeral service will be held on February 7, 2026 with visitation starting at 9:00am and mass at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church in Sherwood. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Bob's name or you may also donate, in honor of Bob, to Alzheimer's Association Wisconsin Chapter https://www.alz.org/wi.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and his team of doctors that helped him along his journey.

We find comfort in knowing that Bob's legacy lives on through the countless lessons he taught us, the love he shared and the memories we will cherish forever.
