Robert Wolynec Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Chittenden County on Dec. 26, 2025.
Robert Benny Wolynec passed peacefully and comfortably on December 18 at the Vermont Respite House with his family by his side.
Bob was a proud Veteran of multiple wars and international conflicts. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was also deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Southern Watch, and later Iraq for Operation Enduring Freedom while serving as a member of the Vermont Air National Guard and the 158th Fighter Wing. During his time in the military, Bob deployed to many foreign and domestic locations around the globe. He was a member of American Legion Post 91 and a life member of VFW Post 778.
Bob was the son of Ben and Mary Wolynec, born and raised in South River, NJ, where he was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church. After attending St. Mary's High School in South Amboy, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He later moved to Vermont and served in law enforcement for the Colchester Police Department. After ten years, he joined the Vermont Air National Guard where he retired as Senior Master Sergeant after more than 30 years of combined military service.
Following retirement RBW loved spending winters in Florida. He enjoyed cooking, particularly dishes from his Polish heritage. Bob also enjoyed fishing, nice cars, and watching the New York Yankees. Above all he valued spending time with family and friends, especially his two grandchildren. Bob was cared for during his final months by his loving wife Bonnie. RBW had a personality that was larger than life and he will be greatly missed, especially by wife Bonnie, son Joshua and his family, Bob's sister Dolores Lang and husband Kurt, as well as many cousins, family members, and friends.
At Bob's request, a small and private memorial service will be held in early summer at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. In lieu of flowers, Bob encouraged that financial contributions in his memory be sent to:
The Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery
118 State Street
Montpelier, VT 05620

or
The Vermont Veterans Fund
VT Office of Veterans Affairs

Arrangements are in the care of the Cremation Society of Chittenden County, a division of Ready Funeral & Cremation Services.
