Robert Wynard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hultgren Funeral Home and Cremation Center - Wheaton on Jan. 8, 2026.
Robert "Bob" T. Wynard, age 82, a resident of Carol Stream and formerly of Galena and New Lenox, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, with his family at his side.

Robert was born on January 29, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Richard Wynard and Elynor (née Zanda). He grew up in Chicago and attended Morton High School, Class of 1961, where he enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with friends. He later took classes at Morton Junior College.

Robert worked for Wilson Sporting Goods Company in their Team Sports Division for 44 years. During his career, he formed many lasting friendships, especially with Jim, Al, and Don-his "three amigos"-who regularly enjoyed lunch together at Chili's. His children fondly remember the benefit of free Cubs tickets. Robert retired from Wilson to spend more time with his family and to enjoy retirement in Galena with Kathy and her horses and dogs.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed watching his children play sports and cheering on his favorite teams-the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. In retirement, he took pride in his role as Kathy's barn hand and as a community safety volunteer. Each year, he and Larry looked forward to participating in the annual vulture walk to help clean up the Galena Territory. Above all, Robert cherished spending time with his wife and children.

Robert is survived by his loving children: Kevin (Tammy) Wynard, Rev. Daniel (Rev. Lucy) Wynard, and Kelly Haushahn; his cherished grandchildren Megan (Tom), Jonathan (Ariel), Teddy, Katey, Travis, Daisy, Eric, and Adam; and his dear great-grandchildren Josie, Leo, and Vivian. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Dianne) Wynard, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen A. Wynard; his parents; and his firstborn daughter, Patricia "Dishy" Eshleman.
