Robert L. Zikmund
Passed away peacefully on Saturday October 12, 2024 at Accent Care Hospice Home. Age 83.
Survived by his loving wife Nancy Zikmund, his daughters Donna Callihan of Virginia Beach, VA, Jacki (Dave) Saylor of Elburn IL, Patti (Stephen Ball) Zikmund, his sister Mary Kessler of Tucson, AZ, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents George and Eleanor Zikmund and his brother Bill Zikmund.
Robert graduated from Ripon College with a Bachelor's of Science in Economics, Masters of Business Administration from University of Illinois and Naval War College. EDO Technology Services & Analysis-Federal Contractor, E.L. Hamm & Associates-Federal Contractor and Ryan Walsh-Federal Contractor. Robert retired after 29 years of service as a Colonel in the United States Army.
Robert was very athletic and excelled at handball, golf and baseball to name a few. He loved running and completed several marathons. He always downplayed his achievements and celebrated others. He took his family every summer to new places to explore, since his dad loved to travel. He had a great sense of humor and made things fun. And, he loved spending time with his family.
Per Robert's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
