Zurack, beloved pediatrician, cherished family member, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 88. Born on December 7, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan Robert devoted his life to caring for others, practicing pediatric medicine for over 40 years in Trenton and Riverview, Michigan.
A proud graduate of Catholic Parochial Grade School in Detroit, Robert went on to graduate from U of D Jesuit High School in 1955 before earning his degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathy in 1963, now known as Midwestern University. His dedication to his career reflected his commitment to the well-being of the children he treated and the families he supported, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Robert was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Grosse Ile, Michigan, where he found great joy in participating in the life of the church and contributing to the community. Outside of his professional endeavors, he embraced his passion for cooking, often remarking, "As long as you enjoyed it, that's all that matters," when complimented on his skillful culinary creations. He took immense pride in his home on East River Road, where he loved to cook for and entertain family and friends.
Robert is survived by his loving family, including brothers Donald Zurack, Lawrence (Margaret) Zurack, and Melvin Zurack; sister Carol (Gary) Golec; son Robert Jordan (Annette) Zurack; and grandson Augustus Zurack. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Elizabeth Zurack.
A memorial gathering will be held on November 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, both taking place at St. Anne Chapel, located at 21508 East River Road, Grosse Ile, MI 48138.
Robert A. Zurack will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his profession, his zest for life, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and kindness that will not be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Robert may be made directly to the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy. 8400 S. Cambridge Ave. Detroit, MI 48221.
