Roberta Benson Atkins, born on June 17, 1943, in Fairborn, Ohio, left our world to be at peace on September 9, 2025, in Berea, Kentucky.

The beloved matriarch of her family, Roberta, is survived by her cherished husband, Donald Atkins, her daughter, Dawn Rae (Ben) May, stepchildren, Ken (Becky) Atkins, and Shari (Matt) Hall, and one brother, Robert (Jan) Benson. The joy and pride of her life were her grandchildren - Alexandria, Micah, Hannah May, and Chase Copeland, alongside her step-grandchildren, Jonathan Atkins, Bradley Atkins, Sasha (Jason) Blackman, and Jazmine Quinley Vest. Each of them had a special place in her heart, and her presence in their lives will forever be treasured.

After earning her BA in Nursing at Miami Valley in Ohio, Roberta went on to work in private practice at Berea Hospital and then on to enrich the lives of countless children through her work as a devoted school nurse within the Madison County Health Department. Her professional days were driven by a profound desire to care for and protect the health of those in her charge.

Roberta's faith was of paramount importance to her, serving as a cornerstone in her life. Her long-standing membership and service at Calvary Baptist Church were a testament to her devout dedication to her faith and community.

Roberta's departure is preceded by her beloved parents, Donald Ray and Mercedes Maxine Benson, and her loving son, Kevin Copeland and stepsons, Ronnie Atkins and Donnie Atkins. Her passing is a moment of sorrow, but also a reflection of the full, beautiful life she led-a life distinguished by her dedication to her family and her vocation as a nurse.

Graveside services will be private at Berea Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Miller officiating. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
