Roberta "Bertie" DePalmo, born on May 27, 1933, returned to our loving Lord on February 18, 2023. She was reunited with her husband, Leonard DePalmo, her parents, Louis and Elizabeth Houshultz, her twin brother Robert (Donna) Houshultz, her brother Mert (Clare) Houshultz, her sister, Florence (Charles) Bergman, her in-laws Mary and Anthony DePalmo, Frances (Joseph) Manni and many friends.
She is survived by her devoted children Mary Beth (Armond) George, Lisa (Lynn) Matthews and Stephen (Anne) DePalmo; 7 grandchildren, Patrick (Mariah) Matthews, Alexis (Michael) Lucian, Jenna Matthews, Matthew DePalmo, Emily DePalmo, Claire DePalmo and David George; three great-grandchildren, Bailey Matthews, Parker Matthews, and PJ Matthews. She is also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews.
Roberta graduated from Harpur College and Binghamton General Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as a Registered Nurse after many years of dedicated service to others.
Throughout the years, Bertie loved backyard neighborhood parties and playing cards with the Southside gang, reading, shopping, playing slots, attending Daily Mass, and traveling with Len. Although, her favorite activity was spending time in Cape Cod with her family.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers over the last few years: Teri, Sheri, Captain Lisa, Amber, Pat, Geri and Maria. We appreciate your kindness to our mother.
"Now the Heavenly Card Club can resume."
A private family funeral mass will be offered at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Contributions in her memory can be made to Lourdes Hospital Foundation (Hospice) 169 Riverside Drive, Suite 103, Binghamton, NY 13905.
