Roberta Mary Baney Opfermann (nickname Bean) entered the Kingdom of Heaven on September 16, 2025 peacefully at home. She was 90 years old. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Roberta was born in Dormont, Pennsylvania, on August 20, 1935 to Joseph and Catherine Baney. She was a Bell Telephone Switchboard Operator before meeting her beloved husband Robert Kent Opfermann, while rollerskating in Canonsburg. They married on January 19, 1957 and were married for 68 years, spending their later years enjoying retirement in Florida.
Roberta loved crocheting blankets, gardening, bowling, and playing cards with family and friends. Baking homemade breads and pies was her speciality. Her family's favorites included her famous chocolate chip cookies.
She is survived by her husband Robert, her cherished children Robert (Joyce) Opfermann, Jr.; Debra (James) Carter; Mary Ellen (Michael) Haller; and Richard (Shari) Opfermann; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Roberta lived a life of love and happiness with her beloved husband Robert. She now rests at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Pennsylvania with the Blessed Mother.
