Roberta Arlene (Dovenbarger) Patton, 96, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, surrounded by family in Wooster.
Roberta was born February 22, 1929, in Mansfield to John M. and Hildred {Chalfant}. She graduated from Ashland High School and Kent State University in 1951.
She married William Patton on June 11, 1958. She taught 1-8 grades for 18 years, many of those years in Mapleton Local School District, where she also served as school Librarian.
Together with William, she owned and operated Pattonholm Farm of rural New London, raising award winning Guernsey Dairy Cows. She was an avid reader, loved music and writing. Most of all she loved Jesus.
Roberta will be deeply missed by her children Margaret R. Reed of Wooster and sons Mark W. (Krystal) Patton of Ashland and John T. (Kelly) Patton of Ashland; grandchildren Bradley (Megan) Patton, Jessica (A.J.) Riffle, Amanda (Chuck) Conway, Jason Reed, Heather Reed, Kayla Shire, J.P. Shire; great-grandchildren Arayah and Addy. Also surviving are sister Velva (Robert) Byers of Sequim, WA, sister-in-law Carol Markel of Tyler, Texas.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Jack Dovenbarger, step-mothers Hazel and Mary Jane, and son-in-law James Reed.
A private graveside service will be held at Huntington Center Cemetery in Wellington, Ohio with Pastor Tom Ledford officiating. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
