Roberta Jane Zimmerman-Szuch, 94, passed away at her home in Connecticut on February 20, 2026, surrounded by immediate family and a few close friends, and is now in the hands of her Lord Jesus Christ. Roberta affectionately known to many as "Bobby" was loved and liked by many throughout her life and career, was a hard-working, kind-hearted generous person, with a sense of humor Throughout her life she enjoyed her Airedale Terrier, Basset Hounds, laughing, baking cakes, cooking, taking care of her yard, looking after young grand-children and their family pets and sharing recipes. She was a dedicated and loving daughter who took care of and looked after her own Mother Mabel Lacks from 1969-2000, both in New York and Connecticut.

Born in Englewood, New Jersey and raised in Nyack, New York she was one of three sisters and the last to pass. Her mother was Mabel Lacks Zimmerman (one of 9) and father was Alton Zimmerman of the Valley Cottage/Nyack, NY area. Roberta's extended family relatives were from England and Germany. She was predeceased by both of her sisters Patrica Simpson (1969) and Mary Ann Garrabrant (2021).

Roberta attended St. Ann's Catholic School and was a graduate of the Nyack High School class of 1950. She worked at Lederle Laboratories in the Medical Research and Labs Division (a division of then American Cyanamid) from 1950 until her retirement in 1995. Roberta throughout her life, resided in Nyack, Valley Cottage, Pearl River and West Nyack, New York until she relocated to Seymour, Connecticut in 1997 to be closer to her only child son Jon David Szuch and his family.

Roberta is survived by her son Jon David Szuch and his wife Lisa, her grand-daughter Cameron Yake 29 (spouse Peyton on Langley Air Force Base Hampton, VA) and grandson Candolin Szuch 27 (Massachusetts) and the family's current loving dog Dolly.
