Robin Kenneth Henning passed from this life to his eternal life in the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ on December 20, 2024.

After Jesus and his family, Robin’s greatest joy was music. He played the saxophone in his high school band, and was very proud to be a Marching Tar Heel in his college years, where he played flute and saxophone. He continued to play in local jazz bands throughout his adult life, and played in the Praise Band in church. He could play the piano by ear, and he eventually added the clarinet to his skills. He had a lovely tenor voice, and sang duets with his wife and in a gospel quartet at various churches.

He earned a BS in Math at UNC-CH, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration at East Carolina University. He worked in pharmaceuticals throughout his career. Most of his years at Burroughs Wellcome, he served as Financial Controller for Research and Development, then went on to financial management at GlaxoSmithKline after it bought Burroughs Wellcome. After his retirement from GSK, he worked as Chief Financial Officer for businesses in the area as a contractor. Eventually, he had to give this up due the early symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Louise (Hill) Henning, his son, Brian Andrew Henning, his brother John F. Henning, Sr. and wife Julie of Franklin NC, two nephews, John F. Henning, Jr, and Lee Heller Henning, and grandnieces and nephews.

He was predeceased in October by his eldest brother, Emil Heller Henning III, and in 1987 and 1995 by his parents, Dr. Emil Heller Henning, Jr, and Ruth Farnham Henning.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 10th at Christian Assembly Church, located at 5516 N. Roxboro Road in Durham, NC. Reception will be held after the service at Christian Assembly.
