A true angel came into the world on January 26th, 1941 when Robin Rebecca Wallace was born in Beaumont, TX. A child of Rebecca and Joe Wallace, Robin was the firstborn of seven and she ascended to her heavenly resting place on September 5th, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with her health. Robin attended Ouachita High School and Fair Park High School, graduating in 1958. She then began her college studies at Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. However, after attending one year of college, love trumped education and Robin married Donald Gene Medaries. They started a family together in Monroe, LA. First came Donald Gene Medaries, Jr. (1960), then Robin Rebecca Medaries (1961), Chris David Medaries (1963), Troy Jeron Medaries (1968) and lastly Jay Quinton Medaries (1969). Robin raised her family mostly in Monroe, LA and she eventually went back to college, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Corrections from Northeast Louisiana University (NLU) in 1978, graduating as a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and graduating Magna Cum Laude with her Master of Arts from NLU (1980).
Landing a job with the Office of Family Services, Robin lovingly served her clientele for over 29 years before she retired. She fully enjoyed her life after her career, reading copious amounts of books and listening to even more audio books. Her favorite place in all the world was the library. Extraordinarily smart and always thirsting for knowledge, Robin never met a strange animal, just one she had not yet rescued or named. And she rescued more than her fair share. Reluctant at first, she grew to know and cherish her New Orleans Saints, never more so than when she got to celebrate their Super Bowl win in 2009. Robin was also an avid bird watcher who enjoyed sitting on her back patio identifying those visitors to her many feeders. She was generous to a fault and dedicated herself to a lifetime of service to others. Robin also loved to cook, especially for family and friends, and she was quite good at it. She wrote children's stories, although none of them as yet have been published. Robin, or Mimi or Mom or Momma as she was called, loved music and movies, attested to by her enormous library of movies on DVD's and numerous CD's of her favorite artists.
Robin is preceded in death by Donald Gene Medaries, Sr. (her first and only husband); Rebecca and Joe Wallace (parents); Joe Wallace (brother); Joni Rebel Wallace (sister); and Derek Stuart and Ivy Stuart (grandchildren).
Robin (Mimi) is survived by all of her 5 children: Donald Medaries, Jr.; Robin Stuart and husband Bart, Chris Medaries and wife Melissa; Troy Medaries; and, Quin Medaries. Her siblings include her sisters Cathy Walker, Becky Jo Rizzo, Kelley Evans and Vicki Michaels and brother Tim Wallace. She is also survived by her stepmother Virginia Wallace.
Robin has 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She also has a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
