Roblyn “Robbie” King Potter, age 83, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025.
Robbie was born in Auburn on November 11, 1941, the daughter of the late Walter P. and Margaret (nee Reilley) King. After graduating from Ithaca High School, she graduated from Alfred University and taught school. Robbie was married to James “Jim” Potter on April 20, 1963 and stopped teaching once they started their family. Later in marriage, they started their own insurance business, which continued until they purchased their dream home on Seneca Lake in Ovid, the “Klondike”. She had many hobbies and would comment that she never had enough time to accomplish all she wanted to do. She was a member of the D.A.R and held most every office during her membership. This sparked another interest, genealogy, which she was able to pass down to others. While living in Ovid, she also was a member of the 20th Century Club, The Ithaca Garden Club, The Ovid, Lodi and Interlaken Historical Societies and the Walnut Hill Carriage Association. She loved spending time with her family and many dear friends. Their love for their Seneca Lake Home was a culmination of both their dreams. Robbie touched the lives of many with her strength in her 7-year cancer journey, along with her kindness to others and unwavering spirit.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James H. Potter; a daughter, Lauralee (Glenn) Potter Dangerio of Pittsford; a son, Steffen Taylor (Sarah) Potter of Victor; her grandchildren, William, Charles “Chip” and Hope Dangerio, Jackson, Daniel, Matthew and Katherine Potter. Robbie was preceded in death by her parents and step father, Roland Ostrander.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Anthony Funeral and Cremation, 2305 Monroe Avenue in Rochester. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Ovid Federated Church, 7137 Main Street in Ovid. Prayers of committal will be held at Ovid Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Robbie’s memory to: The Breast Cancer Coalition, 1048 University Ave, Rochester, NY 14607.
