Rocco Alleva Obituary
Rocco was born in Brooklyn on Sept. 27,1929 and relocated to Cairo in 1994 after retiring. The
son of the late Salvatore Alleva and Angelina Nicolellis Alleva, he was the youngest of nine
children. He is predeceased by brothers Carmine, Dominick, Sal, Anthony, and sisters Mary,
Josephine, Kitty, and Pauline. He has numerous nieces and nephews.
Rocco was married to the love of his life, Loretta, for nearly 65 years before her passing in
2016.
A devoted father to Robert (Gwen) Alleva of Leeds and Karen Alleva-Celic of Cairo, he
dedicated his life to his family. He was the proud grandfather of Elizabeth Alleva, Danielle
Carter, Antoinette Woodhouse, Amanda Beichert, Michael Celic, and Melissa Celic.
Rocco greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as well as his thirteen great grandchildren.
Previously Rocco worked in the furniture upholstery business. He served in the Army National Guard from 1948-1949. He was a lover of wildlife and he had great appreciation of nature.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday December 5 from 10:00-12:00 noon at the Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross St. Cairo. A celebration of Rocco's life will take place at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Catskill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research
Hospital.

Walking his dog Butch one day many years ago, their progress was halted by my little black cat, mama. I went out to get her out of the street and first met Rocco. He and Lorerra were my neighbors for a long time and I enjoyed talking with him when I was out walking and he was outside having a smoke. I will miss him
