Nicholas Alleva Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Papavero Funeral Home - Maspeth on Dec. 4, 2025.
Beloved husband of the late Roseann Alleva, loving father of James Alleva, Philip Alleva and the late Nicholas Alleva Jr., father in-law to Dorothy and Donna, cherished pop pop of Nicholas, Isabella and Philip and dear friend to many.
Nicholas was born and raised in Brooklyn NY and after childhood attended Saint John's University, earning a bachelor's degree after concluding his studies in Pharmacy. He enlisted in the United States Army where he was awarded a medal as a rifleman sharpshooter later being assigned to a medical unit. He was honorably discharged and began his career in Pharmacy owning his own pharmacy business. He sold his pharmacy business and began a career with the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs which later became the Drug Enforcement Administration. He worked for many years as a Special Agent targeting high level drug trafficking organizations specializing in undercover operations. After retiring, he worked in the private sector where he was a security consultant and director of security for several pharmaceutical companies throughout the tri-state area.
During retirement in his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Aside from spending time with his grandchildren and family, one of his greatest joys was being a member of the East Harlem Giglio Society. This society celebrates the life of Saint Anthony by carrying an 80-foot-high tower called a Giglio which is carried by one hundred men. After being a member for several years, he became a Lieutenant and then Capo Di Paranza. He also was a member of the Sons of San Paolino and the Hudson Valley Giglio Boys where he continued his celebration of the Giglio.
Nicholas brought so many smiles to people he met during his wonderful life. He was a man who treated everyone he met with love and respect. He always went out of his way to help everyone first and himself last. He was an old school proud Italian that cherished being born and raised in an Italian family.

Truly one of the best. Nic worked in the Compliance Group next to the one I was in New York in during the BNDD years and he was a guy always with a smile and had a great sense of humor. My condolences to his family at this time of loss.

Nick was a contemporary of mine. He was always full of life and had a wonderful sense of humor. When it came to undercover work he always knew the best way to get close to those he was after. In his time as a DEA agent I remember him with great admiration and respect. Nick will be remembered in my nightly prayers.

Nick and I worked and socialized together in the early days of BNDD in NYC. We were both of Italian stock from Brooklyn. Nick was a kind loving person and a talented Special Agent. He cared deeply for our then small unit. May Nick rest with the Great Almighty and we hope to see him there in the future.

One of the great New York legends for sure, Nick Aleva was indeed all that was said about him and more in his obituary. I worked with Nick for years as a street agent in BNDD and he was smart, fearless, and totally dedicated to ridding the city and the nation from the scourge of drug abuse. Rest in peace, Nick, until we meet again. My deepest condolences to the family, loved ones and the many friends of this wonderful man.
