Rochelle "Shelly" Grisson was born on August 20, 1967, to her beloved parents, the late Marvin Allen Baynes Senior and Loretta Baynes, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. One of three children-sister to Maria Baynes and brother to Marvin Baynes Junior-she was called home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2025.
Rochelle was educated in the Philadelphia public school system and graduated from John Bartram High School. She went on to further her education and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned a bachelor's degree from Strayer University in Information Technology. Shortly after beginning her career with AT&T, Rochelle relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1992, making it her home.
In 2001, she entered into a union of marriage with Carlton Grisson, and from this union, they were blessed with one son, Carlton Joseph Grisson (CJ).
Rochelle began her career at AT&T in 1988, where she built a long and esteemed career spanning over 35 years. She started as a customer service representative and, through dedication and continued study, advanced to become a Communications Technology Technician. She was a dedicated and active member of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union. Rochelle served proudly as a CWA departmental representative and later as Secretary of Treasury for CWA Local 3250, where she was known for her commitment to advocating for her colleagues. Her perseverance, professionalism, and passion for her work earned her the respect of her peers.
Rochelle joined The Women's Committee for CWA Local 3250 & 3204, which is focused on environmental community service. Rochelle had a passion for traveling and the adventures it brought. She cherished the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories.
In 2019, Rochelle joined PlanNet Marketing Group and launched her own travel business, Travel 360. As a travel agent, she built a successful business that brought joy to many. She took great pride in working with her clients to craft unforgettable travel experiences.
Rochelle was an exceptionally caring and devoted mother to her beloved son, Carlton, affectionately known as CJ. The bond they shared was profound; a love that transcends time and space. Their hearts are forever intertwined, a connection unbroken and everlasting.
Rochelle was a woman of boundless generosity. There was nothing she wouldn't do for those she cared about. She loved deeply and showed it every single day through her actions, her words, and her unwavering support. Her warmth and selflessness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Rochelle enjoyed many hobbies, such as gardening and traveling, but there was nothing more important than spending time with the people she loved.
Rochelle is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Allen Baynes Senior. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Carlton Joseph Grisson (CJ), her mother Mrs. Loretta Baynes, her sister Maria Antoinette Baynes, her brother Marvin Allen Baynes Junior, niece Asia Marie Baynes, nephew Marvin Allen Baynes III, and a host of relatives and dear friends.
Her spirit of adventure, her dedication to her work and family, and her generous heart will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, her journey now among the stars she loved to chase. Heaven rejoices as it welcomes one of God's special angels to a joyfulness and an eternity of endless love.
