Rock Staib Obituary
Rock Edward “Rocky” Staib, age 68 of Battle Creek unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. He was born in Battle Creek on July 21, 1957, the oldest of his twin brother, Michael Staib, by nine minutes, to James Alfred and Elinor Jean (McCauley) Staib. Rock graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. He was a machine operator and held several jobs in the Battle Creek area.
He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions & University of Michigan and loved to fish and horseback ride. Fall is the perfect season for Rocky to be reunited with his four brothers, and we are sure that a game of touch football quickly ensued now that he is free of his earthly body and all its constraints.
Rock is survived by his partner of 30 years, Janessa Nunley; sons, Shawn Michael Staib and Jace Edward Staib; his sisters, Pam Warsop and Kimberly Staib; sister-in-law, Teresa Staib; brother-in-law, Dan Medich and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Jimmy, Mike, Jeff and TJ; sister, Linda Medich and brother-in-law, Jim Warsop.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Celebration of Rocky's Life will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26th. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Personal messages for the family and favorite memories may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
