Rodd Alan Jose, a loving father and an avid outdoorsman passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the age of 59 in Scottsdale, AZ. Born on June 15, 1964 in Bismarck, ND, Rodd was the son of Ralph and Darlene Jose of Fargo, ND. Rodd moved with his family to Fargo, ND at a young age and enjoyed the sport of wrestling, working at Mexican Village and was a graduate of Fargo North High School in 1982. Soon after graduation, he traded the North Dakota winters for the warmth of Scottsdale, Arizona. He loved coming home to Fargo to attend class reunions, reconnecting with friends and most importantly spending time with his family.
He married Barb Boehler, of ND, and together they had two kind and beautiful children; Savannah and Ty.
Rodd co-founded and co-owned Sunline Contracting of Phoenix. AZ.
In addition to his work, Rodd loved spending time golfing and also was an avid outdoorsman and hunter; sharing epic stories of great hunts all over North America. It brought him great joy to spend time hunting and he filled a large trophy room; including a brown bear from Alaska. Mike Kraft, Chandler, AZ, his friend of 40 years, was his hunting partner on many hunting trips.
He also had a passion of being in the kitchen preparing recipes that were family favorites passed down from his mother who he enjoyed old and new recipe conversation with. He recently had the joy to travel back to North Dakota with his children to celebrate his niece Hannah's wedding. His family meant everything to him.
Rodd is survived by Barb Jose, the mother of his children, Savannah and Ty; his parents, Ralph and Darlene Jose; sister Dawn Kearns; and niece Hannah (Nolan) Klinkhammer. He is also survived by his uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Martha Jose, Finice and Mary Velenchenko and infant son Colton.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your favorite charity in Rodd's memory.

To Whom It May Concern,

I knew Rodd in eighth grade. He was two letter grades ahead of me in first names, but we were both in the eighth grade, i.e., freshly minted men or "freshmen" in high school. This is what I remember about the man, Mr. Jose, Sir.

(1) I lived in the town of California named in honor of him for 13 years: San Jose, California. A couple of bands sang a song about the city, which is the southern tip of Silicon Valley, where I've worked for a couple of computer security companies. The traffic heading South from here is murder on Saturday.

(2) As a student photographer, I took many pictures of Rodd for the eighth-grade yearbook at Benjamin Franklin Junior High School in Fargo, North Dakota.

(3) Rodd was friends with Elise M. in my eighth-grade art class. I'm speaking with her in person in early January. She'll be disappointed to hear my news. I wish it were better.

(4) Rodd was one of the "cool" kids that never picked on me. He was a gentleman, even in eighth grade. Not all men were or are.

(5) I remember "Rod" spelling his name with one "d". I'll look if I ever see my eighth-grade yearbook again.

Hau (Dakota Sioux greeting),
Todd B
