Mr. Roderick Carroll Bowen

Roderick Carroll Bowen, 76, of Seneca, SC, entered into his heavenly rest on Friday, May 6, 2022. He was the eldest son of the late Rev. Elmo Bowen and Ellen Lindsey Bowen. He was a life-long resident of Oconee County until March 2019, when he moved his residence to the Ellenburg Nursing Home in Anderson, SC. There he was lovingly cared for until his passing. He was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church, serving as an usher and greeter for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Gayle Bowen and Lochlynn Anne Bowen, both of Seneca, SC. He is survived by one brother, Timothy Lindsey Bowen (and wife Pamela Jackson Bowen) of Seneca; niece Katherine Bowen Reams (along with husband Richard Reams and son, James Bennett Reams) of North Charleston, SC; nephew Joseph Mark Purcell of Anderson, SC; great-niece Savannah Logan Butts (and daughter Clover Lynn Brock) of Westminster, SC; and great-nephew Jordan Mark Purcell of Anderson, SC.
Roderick was a special light from heaven to all who met him. His child-like faith, infectious spirit, and unparalleled optimism were just part of what made him such an example of a Christ-centered life. His joyful personality and unbridled laughter will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community.
The family will receive friends 1:00 – 1:55 pm on Tuesday, May 10, at Hopewell Baptist Church in Seneca. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm at the church, with burial following at Oconee Memorial Park.
