Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frary Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - Harrisville on Dec. 7, 2025.
Harrisville- Roderick V. Moore, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 5, 2025. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 7 PM with Chet Moore officiating at Frary Funeral Home, 14248 State Street in Harrisville. Calling hours will precede the service from 4 PM until 7 PM. Rod was born in Gouverneur on January 30, 1952, the son of Paul and Arletha (Cole) Moore. On August 17, 1991, he married Carole Watson at their home in Harrisville, NY. A previous marriage to Eileen Wicks ended in divorce. Rod was a self-employed logger for many years working alongside his dad, Paul, before he began his career with the Town of Pitcairn as a heavy equipment operator/snowplow driver until his retirement in 2018. He is survived by his wife Carole, his mother Arletha, three sons, Victor (Shannon), Travis (Sandi), Clint (Makeshia), a daughter, Anna (Dean) Green, a brother, Keith (Becky), a sister, Vickie (Tom) Bennett, ten grandchildren, Tama, Tazeren, Devin, Chelsy, Cali, Zane, Kira, Harlie, Torie and Lylian, fifteen great grandchildren, Raelynn, Riley, Elsie, Ayva, Grayson, Oakleigh, Beckham, Luca, Bryson, Maelani, DeAndre, Emersyn, Harmonie, Josephine and Warren. He was predeceased by his father, a son, Jesse Streeter and a granddaughter, Piper Moore. Rod and Carole have been hosting foreign exchange students since 2016, and they are proud to also call them their children, Ruk, Sara, Mathias, Fyaz, Jana, Beshoy, Aiya, Shanieyah, Damian, Anisa and Shumukh. Rod enjoyed hunting, making maple syrup, and riding his Harley. He was a man of many talents and could figure out a way to fix almost anything. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors and would give you the shirt off his back if you asked. His favorite thing to do was to go out riding his Harley with his kids, spend time with his family and grandchildren and putter around in his sugar bush. Memorial contributions may be made to Pierrepont Fire and Rescue Squad in lieu of flowers. Online memorial condolences may be shared with Roderick's family www.fraryfuneralhome.com.
