Rodney Allen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The House of Day Funeral Service, Inc. on Apr. 19, 2023.
Rodney Allen was born on, February 22, 1967, to Vernon and Elizabeth Fitchpatric-Allen, in Toledo, Ohio. On Monday, April 17, 2023, after a courageous battle, he went to be with the Lord. His wife Gwen, children and family members, kept a continuous vigil at his bedside, during the last weeks of his illness. Gwen continued to read, "The Love Languages Bible", at his bedside until God called him home.
Rodney was baptized as a young child and rededicated his life to Christ this past January. He acknowledged God's favor on his life and often shared stories about how grace had saved him more than once. He was a kind, loving and generous man that was committed to his family. He was known as a man who consistently marched to the beat of a "different drummer", following his own path.
Growing up in Toledo, Rodney attended Toledo Public Schools. He started his career as a Truck Driver with his father's company, Allen Brothers Trucking. He jointly owned, Keep it Moving,LLC, and most recently worked for Cassens Transport. Rodney's interests and hobbies included fishing, shooting pool, playing board games and his favorite, dominoes. He also loved to cook and grill with his wife, riding bikes with his dad, and listening to music.
Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgie Fitchpatric and James Fitchpatric; Classie and Andrew Allen; aunt, Ruby L. Allen; uncles, Odell, Tommie Lee, and Howard Allen; and mother-in-law, Margaret Truss, with whom he had a special relationship.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Gwendolyn Briggs Allen; parents; daughters, Re'Nice and Re'Shonda Allen, of New Orleans, LA, and Domiana Willform of Burlington, IA; brothers, Vernon Dwayne, Don (Roxanne), Tyrone ( Hattie), Christopher, and Lamont (Philicia) Allen and Keith (Tammy) Fitchpatric, all of Toledo; aunts, Bertha (Alvin) Fisher of Toledo, and Bernice Moore of Garden City, Michigan; uncle, James Fitchpatric, Sr. of Toledo; sister-in-law, Priscilla Greer of Toledo, Ohio and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."-Henry David Thoreau
