Rodney John Anderson, age 93 of Blue Earth, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at his home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Pastor David Schultz officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 am- 11am. Burial with military honors will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth at a later date.
Rodney was born April 17, 1932 to Ora and Alice (Larson) Anderson in Blue Earth. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1950. Two years later, he got married and later divorced. Rodney spent a couple of years cutting trees and logging before he was called to service in 1952. He spent two years in the Army, stationed mostly in Germany. After his release from active duty, Rodney started farming and cattle business. He was also an order buyer for cattle for several cattlemen around the country. He really enjoyed the hunt for good cattle. Rod was also actively involved in the community and church- he was a Legion Commander of Post 89 and a dedicated life time member of the VFW.
Rod was an avid hunter and fisherman, who spent nearly 70 years hunting in Wyoming and South Dakota. He loved spending his summers up north, where they had a home on the lake for over 40 years. Rod loved sports, especially he enjoyed watching baseball games.
In 1982, Rod met his soul mate, Marsha Petersen and in 1984 they were married. Together, they continued to farm and operate the feed lot until Rod’s retirement.
Rod is survived by his loving wife Marsha; sister, Alana (Randy) Sippel of Sherburn; children, Chuck (JoAnn) of Winnebago, Nancy (Mike) Palm of Waseca, Jean Staneart of Waseca, Rick (Linda) of Vail, AZ, David (Kathy) of Blue Earth, and Jerold (Lynn) of Blue Earth; step-daughter, Ronda Bladzik of Titonka, IA; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frederick; and stepson, Rob Marks.
