Rodney Leon Coyle (“Angel”), age 77, of Mecklenburg, NY, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, with his family at his bedside.

Rodney was born on December 21, 1947, to the late Jesse and Geraldine Coyle. He was one of nine children and is survived by his siblings Roger (Becky) Coyle, Barbara (Bob) McCoon, Wanda (Herb) Cooper, David (Katie) Coyle, Gene (Deborah) Coyle, and Daniel (Sue) Coyle. He was predeceased by siblings Little Jesse and Little Mary. Rodney shared his life with and is survived by his lifelong partner and best friend, Susan Lawton. He is also remembered by Pamela Coyle, mother of his sons Adam (Jennifer) Coyle and Joshua (Sarah) Coyle, and his beloved grandchildren Caydence and Pacey Coyle. Rodney is also survived by his stepchildren Eric Cowles, Gary Lawton, and Misty Lawton, and was predeceased by his stepson David Lawton.

Rodney proudly served in the United States Army before beginning a lifelong career with Borg Warner Automotive in Ithaca, NY, where he worked faithfully until retirement.

Beyond his work, Rodney’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. His adventurous spirit took him on road trips across the country, where he enjoyed the freedom of the open road and the opportunity to make lasting memories. Rodney was also an avid fan of auto racing, attending races both locally and throughout the United States, and sharing that passion with those he loved.

Rodney will be remembered for his devotion to family, his adventurous heart, and the many memories he created with everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the love of his children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family.

Rodney will be cremated, and a celebration of life honoring him is planned for the spring of 2026. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date. Memories and condolences can be shared in his online guest book at www.macphersonfh.com.
