Rodney Gray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home on Jan. 30, 2026.
Rod Gray was born in San Antonio, Texas, to parents Kathleen and Stuart Gray. His sister, Beverly Jean, preceded him in death at the age of three before his birth. He attended school in San Antonio and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1958. After two years at San Antonio College, he proudly joined the US Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA.

Rod began his professional journey with the National Cash Register (NCR) in 1960 as an office clerk earning $1 per hour. His dedication and leadership skills propelled him forward, allowing him to move across the country as his career advanced. After NCR was acquired by AT&T, Rod was appointed Division Vice President. He retired from AT&T in 1993 after a successful and fulfilling 33-year career.

After retiring, Rod relocated to Boerne, TX where he embraced the next chapter of his life. He worked at the Geneva School of Boerne which was personally very rewarding. His love for children provided many cherished memories. He helped establish the Boerne Barracuda swim team and was affectionately called "the mayor" by friends in the community.

Rod was a true "people" person and a natural entertainer, always expressing his "larger than life" personality through music and laughter. He loved his work, valued relationships, and felt deeply blessed for the life he and his family shared. His faith was important to him, and he looked forward to someday meeting his sister in heaven.

Rod is survived by Jeanne Ward West, with whom he had his first two children, Juli Gray Guzzo, married to Jonathan Guzzo, and Zach Gray. He is also survived by Laura Johnson Gray, with whom he had his youngest daughter, Kendall Gray. Rod was a proud grandfather to Milaina Guzzo and Gianna Guzzo Kordish, and a great grandfather to Amara Kordish. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.

Rod Gray passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in North Richland Hills, TX after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Rod is, and will always be, a Texan to his core… His family, his faith and his pride in the great state that he called home were the things he valued most.
