Rodney "Rowty" Lampi, age 73, longtime area resident passed away on Friday June 20, 2025 at his home.
Rodney grew up in Ishpeming, and worked at Northwest Lumber Building Supply as a laborer and truck driver for many years. He made deliveries all across the U.P. and also joined the owner of the company Rick Jurmu on trips to Texas where they sold Christmas trees from the U.P. Rowty enjoyed his time working for Da Yoopers band where he was a roadie, and was included in one of their songs.
Rodney had too many friends to mention, but his sister Kathy welcomes any stories that any of his pals would like to share.
Rodney was involved in Pathways/ACT in Marquette for many years. They were responsible for helping Rodney be able to live the best possible life he could, which he succeeded in doing.
Kathy would like to thank Pathways workers- Amy, Chris, Ryan, Dan Rydholm, Mike Wood, Stuart, and so many more whose names she does not know.
Kathy would also like to extend a thank you to Cherry Creek Village staff for a safe and beautiful place to live for Rodney.
Rodney is survived by his sister- Kathy Jo Lampi, nephew- Brent (Sharon) Roberts, great nephews- Hudson and Parker Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents- Leonard Matt Lampi and Bertha Elizabeth (Luoma) Lampi, and step-brother- Michael Roberts.
Following Rodney's wishes, cremation will take place with a private celebration of his life to be held at a later date.
P.S. Thanks Rowt for calling me to tell me that you sent my birthday card early I received it the day you said "So long" your loving sister, Kathy Jo Lampi.
