Rodney Gene Lucas, 56, of Machesney Park, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024. He was born in Rockford on September 14, 1968. Rodney was a union carpenter from 1986 until he bought Hinkle Well in 2002. He was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. His personality was larger than life. Rodney grew up around demolition derbys and he loved spending time with his cousins and friends during the years and hundreds of '74, '75 and '76 Chevy Impalas.
Rodney is predeceased by his daughter, AngeLea Gene Lucas; cousin, Bruce Lucas; and lifelong pal, Chucky Geschke. He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Lucas (Jacob Bray); granddaughter, Violet Bray; ex-wife of 34 years, Wendy Lucas; parents, Paul Lucas and Elizabeth Arlene Lucas; sister, Candy Thompson; cousins, Brad, Mary, Brian, Tina and Nick Lucas; April and Jimmy Camacho.
Rodney's family would like to thank everyone deeply for their love and support. He will be missed but remembered with love and joy by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111. Graveside service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Willwood Burial Park, 7000 W. State Street, Rockford, IL 61102.
