Rodney Lee Timmons, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born on Sunday, February 15, 1953 to Ira Timmons and Margaret (Allen) Timmons. On February 27, 1998 in Salem, Illinois, he married Leana Sue Timmons and she survives.
Rodney's life was rich with family and friendship. He leaves behind a legacy in his beloved children: David Timmons (Kristine) of Salem, Roddy Timmons of Centralia, Lori Lewis of Central City, Robert Alli (Julie), Carol J. Smith and Timothy Ramsey. Rodney was a cherished brother to Jerry Timmons of Junction City, Ed Timmons (Sharon) of Wamac, Jeff Timmons (Shelia) of Cheyenne, WY, Diane Horn of Michigan, Sue Owen (Larry) of Centralia, Cheryl Timmons of Walnut Hill, Tammy Timmons Beppler of Flora, and Paula Heminover (Merv). He had several grandchildren, David Jr. Timmons (Cricia), Cole Timmons (Daryian), Taylor Wilkins (Eric), Dylan Timmons, Rylie Timmons, Mya Timmons, Caleb Deckard, Lacey Wilkins, Eric Lewis, Eddie Myers (fiance Kristy), David Myers, Austin Ramsey, LaRon Anderson (Ana), Courtney Alli (fiance Brian), Logan Ramsey, Alivia Reed, Emily Tally, TyRon Anderson, Rahkeim Anderson, Jack Shomaker and Kai Anderson; three step-children, Megan Young, Garrett Jackson and Alivia Stevens; great-grandchildren, Kane, Daxton, Willow, Gunner, Chloe, Faith, Kayden, Marley, Cooper, Lala, Blaze, Audree, Keaden, Juniper, Tyler Myers, Alysa Myers, Kerigan Myers, Hayden Myers and Braxton Myers and two great-grandchildren on the way. Rodney will be dearly missed by special friends Bob Nhert, Mike Sanders, and Jimmy Branon, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will forever be remembered for the warmth he brought into their lives.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Ira Timmons, and his mother, Margaret Timmons; his beloved son, Chad Timmons; brothers Bob, Larry, Sonny, Bill, Steve, Terry (Hippie), Hobe and half-brother Tim Timmons; sisters. Pat Vinson, Nancy Thompson, and half-sisters Sandra, Fonda and Joann Timmons; sister-in-law Joann Timmons; nephews Tim Sloat and Leebob Sloat Jr; daughter-in-law Beth Ramsey, and lots of nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, Rodney relished spending time with family and friends. He loved the outdoors and found great joy in fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting, pursuits he often shared with those he loved.Rodney was known for his strong work ethic, having spent his career as a skilled backhoe operator. His dedication to his craft and his community will be fondly remembered by many. His life was a testament to hard work, family devotion and the joy found in the simple pleasures of life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held to honor Rodney's memory on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Centralia V.F.W., where family and friends will gather to share stories, memories, and love for a man who touched so many lives. Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home located at 235 North Sycamore Street
