Rodney Dale "Rod" Watts

1960-2026

"Some people leave behind silence - you left behind laughter that will echo forever."

Rodney Dale Watts, affectionately known as Rod, passed gently away with fond memories of his family and friends on his mind, on February 4, 2026.

Rod was born on in the fleeting days of a cool winter in 1960, on February 21st. He was the blessing of the late Jackie Dean and Lottie Ann Yates Watts. He attended Paul Blazer High School and made a living working for himself in construction. Rod was handy when it came to building things and although his work took him to other states from time to time, his heart remained in the Bluegrass where he was raised.

Rod was one of kind. He had a charisma that would light up any room he walked into. He was always the life of any party or family gathering. He would joke and carry on with all his nieces and nephews and tell tall tales with such conviction that you had to second guess the truth. Rod never took life too seriously and it brought him a joy that most never see. He was a fun-loving jokester with an infectious smile and personality that you just couldn't help but love. His passing leaves behind a hole in the lives of all who were blessed to know him. His friends and family will cherish the memories and love that Rod left behind.

Rod leaves behind his children Rodney Charles Trapp (Kimberly Bosstic), and Joshua Watts his grandchildren Araya, Dalton, Kaylee, Skylin, and Collin, two brothers, Steven Brian Watts of Bradenton, FL and Scotty Lee Watts of Ashland, KY, and one sister Sandra "Sam" Caldwell and her husband Randall of Kenova, WV. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Kristi Nelson, Rebecca Watts, Leigh Ann Salyers, Michael Watts, and Timothy Brian Watts, great nieces Riley Nelson and Charlee Watts, and one special man of whom he loved like a son, Louie Williams.

In addition to his late parents, Rod is preceded in death by one bother Timothy Dean Watts and his sister Bambi Lynn Vercrouse.
