Edna Ruth Stewart Clere, age 81, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, passed gently away on March 7, 2026, with her beloved family on her mind.

Edna was born on November 27, 1944. She was the blessing of the late John C. Stewart and Virginia M. Cumpston Stewart. Edna devoted many years of her life caring for others as a nursing assistant, a profession that reflected her gentle and compassionate spirit. She cared most about her two boys. Edna's children were her number one priority, and she would make any sacrifice she had to for them. She loved them dearly.

Edna found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially a good road trip, and she was always ready to go wherever the road might lead. Edna was an avid bird watcher who took great delight in feeding the birds and often spoke of their beauty.

Her grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life, and each shared a special and unique bond with her. When asked how she was doing, Edna would almost always respond with her familiar and humble reply, "Fair."

She loved spending time in the sunshine and found a sense of peace when its warm rays hit her face. She was proud of her golden tan. Edna also enjoyed cooking for her family, and the children especially looked forward to the fudge she lovingly made just for them.

Edna had a deep rooted, unwavering faith. Her love for the Lord showed in her daily walk-through life. Those close to her find comfort in knowing she is finally home.

Edna will be missed by all those who were blessed enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy that will be shared for many generations to come. Her family and friends will share stories and remember her unique and endearing sense of humor. They will remember her smile and laughter and treasure those moments they shared with her.

Edna leaves behind her two children Joel Patrick Clere and his wife Becky of Catlettsburg, KY, and Alvin Leroy Clere and his wife Beckie of Ashland, KY, four precious grandchildren Candace Clere of Raleigh NC, Jocelyn Clere, of Ft. Meyers, FL, Patrick (Amanda) Clere, of San Antonio, TX, Hayley (Cameron) Clere of Catlettsburg, KY, great-grandchildren, Blake Clere, Taylor Clere, Elijah Edwards, Joelene Clere, Avery Clere, and Archer Clere, and one great-great-grandchild, Emilia Domingo, and her most faithful companion, JoBo, her little Morkie Wawa Weenie dog. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her late parents, Edna is enjoying a Heavenly reunion with her brothers, John H. Stewart, Willie D. Stewart, Sherman L. Stewart, Thomas E. Stewart, Robin A Stewart, and Barry W. Stewart, and her sisters Mary A. Hockley, Eva M. Williams, and Vickie I. Williams . Edna was also greeted just across the rainbow bridge by Inky, her beloved Chiweenie.

The family would like to extend their love and a special thank you to nieces Susan Lynn Campbell , Carolee Willis, and the staff at Community Hospice in Ashland, KY.

A visitation will be held at Neal Funeral Home, located at 2409 Center Street, Catlettsburg, KY on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Ashland Cemetery beginning at 11am with Pastor Bruce officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catlettsburg Community Church at 2712 Louisa Road #0, Catlettsburg, KY 41129.
