Rodney Marcus White, beloved son of Mary S. White and the late Henry T. White, was born on September 25, 1968 in Nassawadox, Virginia. He departed this life on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
Rodney was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. He graduated from Nandua High School in 1986. Upon graduation, he entered the workforce at Perdue Farms in Accomac. In later years, he began working with his best friend, the late Hosea Davis, at his detail shop in Onley, Virginia. In 1996, Rodney decided to relocate to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
At an early age, Rodney joined Herbert Baptist Church in Wachapreague, Virginia under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Willie Ponds. In later years, Rodney, along with his siblings, decided to join Gaskins Chapel AME Church in Savageville, Virginia under the leadership of the late Rev. H. L. James. There he served on the Sunbeam Choir, Junior Choir, and the Junior Usher Board.
One of Rodney's favorite pastimes was watching his beloved Washington Redskins, now the Washington Commanders. In his spare time, he loved to play video games and go to the casino. When he would win at the casino he would call and brag about his winnings.
Even though he wasn't close geographically, Rodney always kept in touch with his family, especially on his birthday. No matter how early or late it was he would call his twin sister to wish her a happy birthday. He always kept people laughing, even when he was in the hospital and nursing home. His father gave him the nickname, "Dudley Do Right," because he was always kept something going when he was younger. Rodney will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sgt. Henry T. White, Jr.; and his sister, Kimberly Clark.
Those left to cherish his loving memories are his mother, Mary S. White; two sons, Shawn Davis and Keece Davis; three grandchildren, Jomyrah Davis, Jomarion Davis, and Brandon Townsend; twin sister, Rochelle Sutton; two brothers, Anthony White and Nicolas Dilday; nieces, Cierra Rutherford (Tyrell), Brittany Sutton, and Shyquail Clark; nephews, Lamar White, Titus Clark, Torean Clark, Xavier White; two great-nieces, Kiana Miller and Di'Naja Doughty; two great-nephews, Dereon Doughty and Cameron Savage; three aunts, Margaret Downing, Joyce Stevens, and Janet Bell; three god sisters, Tonya Webb, Cheryl Davis, and Raechelle James-Knight; one brother-in-law, Rodney Sutton; one sister-in-law, Nancy White; and a host of other relatives and friends.
