CHURCH HILL – Roger Lee Arnold, Sr., 74, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with his longtime companion Kathy Dixon by his side.

Roger was born in Elizabethton, TN, David Arnold and Molly Castle and lived most of his life in Church Hill. He was US Navy veteran and was stationed on the USS Forrestal (CVA-59). Roger received the National Defense Service Medal for his dedication and heroism to his country. He was a long-haul truck driver for many years. Roger was just recently saved and loved his Lord and Savior. He was as his sister described a "peacemaker" for their family. He always took care of his sisters and everyone around him, always wanting everyone to be happy and know that they were loved. Roger was an avid fisherman, he spent many weekends fishing with his grandson Tanner, and that was time he always cherished. He loved NASCAR, specifically Dale Earnhart, and loved his Tennessee mountains.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Arnold.

Roger is survived by his most beloved of 25 years, Kathy Dixon; sisters, Lynn Arnold Edwards of Kentucky, Joyce Givens of Kentucky, Barbara Sanderson of North Carolina, and Marissa Huff of North Carolina; grandson, Tanner Dixon (Courtney) of Church Hill; great granddaughters, Blair and Taylen Dixon; special uncle, Bobby Arnold of Tennessee; best friends, Joe Dixon and Manson and Angie Steele; as well as many dear nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the entire hospice team from Ballad Health Hospice, countless friends, and our amazing family near and far.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 5:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Johnson -Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Roger's name.
