Roger Lee Asher was born on May 27, 1950 to the proud parents, Jack and Rose Asher. Roger was the oldest son in their big family. Roger, his parents and his 10 brothers and sisters shared a small home in the mountains of Hyden, KY. Roger loved his hometown. He was never so proud than when he would say he was from Hyden, KY in Leslie County.
Roger was a successful graduate of Leslie County High School and then continued his education for 2 years at the University of the Cumberlands.
In 1971, Roger relocated to Erlanger, KY, where he remained for the entirety of his life.
In 1972, Roger was lucky enough to be able to hire a beautiful young woman, by the name of Draga Lozanovski, at Dr. Scholl's Shoe Co. He didn't know it then, but she would become the love of his life.
On June 2, 1973, Roger and Draga were married in front of family and friends in a beautiful ceremony with a celebration to follow. The couple soon became a trio when they welcomed their first son, Roger David into their world on December 22,1973. The family grew by one more on October 12, 1979 with the arrival of Robert (Rocky) Peter.
Roger was an ultimate business man and provider for his family. Roger took much pride in his business role. In his roughly 58 years of employment, he could count on one hand how many days off he had to take. Making sure his family had everything they needed and dreamed of was his number one priority, He succeeded on all fronts.
Where you could really see Roger living his best life, was when he was hanging out with his siblings and friends. Whether it be after football and basketball games of the boys, hanging out at Pasquale's with the parents of his son's friends, who became extended family or having everyone over to the house for some pool, cards, drinks and laughs. He always said those were some great times he cherished. Some of his best moments were when he and the family would head down to Warsaw, KY for the weekend to let loose with his brothers and sisters. Nobody could cut up the way the Asher's could. The Asher brothers are some of the best story tellers around and those weekends were filled with amazing stories and laughs until your stomach hurt.
On December 9, 1993, Roger David and his high school sweetheart, Michelle welcomed their first child, Brady Michael into their world. Roger D. and Michelle married in November 1994 and welcomed two more children to the family. Cameron David and finally a little girl, Olivia Tana who would be known as "princess" by Pops from then on. Roger loved being a Pops. His grandkids hung the moon in his eyes. There wasn't anything he wouldn't give them or do for them Just as he did for his own two boys, he showed up to whatever they were participating in. Whether it be sports or receiving awards at school, he was there smiling ear to ear.
Family was everything to Roger. He wanted to make sure they knew he would do whatever it took to make them happy. Roger was also a very giving man. He never met a stranger and never passed up an opportunity to give anything he could when needed. He always told all his people, whatever you give, you will receive it back in some way or another in your life.
To know Roger, Big Rog or Bubba was to love him. You knew you were going to be taken care of and have one or more heck of a story(s) when you left.
Roger was extremely intelligent, funny and a great person who will be terribly missed by his family.
On January 28, 2026 Roger was reunited with the love of his life, Draga, his two beloved dogs, Sam and Shelby, who he loved like children and many of his family who passed before him. What a glorious reunion. He is and will forever be missed.
