Roger D. Brown, 73, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his daughter, son-in-law and wife.
He was born on August 31, 1951, in Bellefontaine, the son of the late Lowell Francis and Identa Romaine (Branson) Brown. He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert Brown, a brother-in-law, Tom Elliott, as well as sister-in-law, Marlene Brown.
On July 12, 1986, he married the former Nada (Frey) Brown, his partner in love and life, and she survives along with his daughter, and pride and joy, Andrea (Rodney) Wrocklage; two stepsons Ben (Cortney) Hooley and Bradley (Jaymie) Hooley. three grandchildren, Blake (Colleen) Rodenberger, Trenton Rodenberger, Addie Rodenberger, and four step-grandchildren Drew Wrocklage, Raihn Wrocklage, Brooklyn Hooley, and Ethan Hooley, three great grandchildren, Eloise, Amelia, and Grant Rodenberger, three sisters, Marilyn Elliott, Mona (Bud) Eichholtz, and Lylia (Lyle) Barger, along with his brother Donald "Butch" (Peggy) Brown, numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Roger was a dedicated stepfather and touched many lives as a mentor and shared special memories with Ryan Brown, Rush Eichholtz, Scott Elliott, Ernest Britton, and Matt Brewer.
A proud graduate of Logan Hills High School in 1969, Roger dedicated many years to serving the community he loved. He spent many years with United Telephone before continuing his career with the City of Bellefontaine Engineers Office and ultimately culminating in his role as the Code Enforcement Officer for the Village of Russells Point.
Roger was truly one of a kind—a personality marked by a unique blend of wit and warmth. Roger had a knack for storytelling that could fill a room with laughter at any gathering. He was ornery and mischievous, his quick humor and infectious spirit lit up every room he entered. Roger cherished the company of family and friends, as seen in his epic farm parties.
Bramble Brea, the Brown family farm, nestled near New Jerusalem, was a sanctuary for Roger and his family, a place where memories were made over countless parties and reunions. You could often find him out there doing what truly made him happy, deer hunting, fishing, hunting for Morel mushrooms, teaching someone to identify trees or riding ATV’s and each moment spent outdoors resonating with his appreciation for nature and tradition.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Roger’s life during a visitation on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N Main Street, Bellefontaine, where there will be a fish fry for all attending. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Joe Ziraldo, will follow on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Bellefontaine funeral home.
