Roger Dean Butterbaugh

Roger Dean Butterbaugh, 83, of Mansfield passed into eternity on December 13, 2025 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Ashland following a long illness.
Born on July 31, 1942 in North Liberty, Ohio to Joseph and Viola (Grubb) Butterbaugh, Roger lived his entire life in the Knox and Richland County areas.
Roger graduated from Butler High School in 1960. In his working years he operated heavy equipment for Grubb and Pipes, Columbia Gas, and his own excavating business. For many years he ran milk routes door-to-door for both Borden and Smith Dairy. Later he drove trucks, both as an owner operator and as a company driver. His last 14 years of employment were with R+L Carriers out of Norwalk, until his retirement in 2012. At each job, Roger thoroughly enjoyed interacting with both his customers and co-workers who knew him for his ready smile, quick wit, and positive attitude.
Roger and his surviving wife Gaylene (Bozarth) Butterbaugh were married in 2003 and enjoyed taking drives in the country, off-roading with ATVs, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and raising their daughter Megan (Butterbaugh) Meadows; who survives with her husband Drew and their daughter Baylee.
Roger is also survived by three children from a previous marriage; Sarah (Butterbaugh) Prinsloo and her partner Dean Rosow; Brett Butterbaugh; Brion and Sheila (Duley) Butterbaugh; and a total of four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Royal Butterbaugh.
Over the years Roger attended services at Churches of Christ in Butler, Lexington, Bellville, and Palmyra. Roger and Gaylene also enjoyed attending Zion's Refuge Baptist Church in Mansfield where a celebration of Roger's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on January 10, 2026 with Pastor Dave Parsons officiating. A time for family and friends to gather will be from 10:00 am until the time of Roger's life celebration at 11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Zion's Refuge Baptist Church.
