Roger Carter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pierschbacher Funeral Homes - Knoxville on Dec. 10, 2025.
A celebration of life gathering for Roger Carter, 80, of Knoxville will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville. Memorials may be made in care of Roger's family and will be designated at a later date.
Roger Douglas Careter was born August 18, 1945, in Knoxville, Iowa to Gerald and Dorothy (Mitchell) Carter. He grew up around Flagler and attended Knoxville High School with the class of 1963. Roger married the love of his life, Dorothy Cowman in 1963, they have been blessed with four children: Brad, Lisa, Wade, and Jodi, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Roger has always been a hard worker and an entrepreneur. He has worked at Pella Corp, Vermeer, Parson's, 3M, and roofing construction. He also loved the restaurant business and very much enjoyed all the people while founding and running Fast Freddie's Pizza, Wackos, and Clowns.
There was never a dull moment with Roger, with his quick wit and great sense of humor, people were always drawn to him. Dorothy and Roger's home was a gathering place where you could enjoy a cup of coffee while sitting on the porch or hangout in the garage where many memories were made.
Roger loved fixing things and working with his hands. You could often find him working on a project or mowing the lawn. He enjoyed motorcycles and side by side rides with friends and family.
His son and best friend, Wade, passed away last December leaving a hole in his heart. Roger was strong. He was a fighter, not complaining as he battled his own health problems. Roger passed away surrounded by family on December 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gerald and Dorothy Carter; and his son, Wade Carter.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; children: Brad (Linda) Carter, Lisa Carter, and Jodi (Chris) Counts; grandchildren: Lauren, Benjamin, Nathan, Nick, Bailey, Keith, Charlie, Jordyn, and Brody; great grandchildren: Everlee, Carter, Zaire, and Zayla; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
