Roger Coots, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and, passed away on September 28, 2024 at his residence in Yeaddiss, Kentucky. He was born on January 19, 1961, Hyden, Kentucky, to Burvel and Virginia Collins Coots.

Roger proudly dedicated over 30 years of his life to the coal mining industry, working for esteemed companies such as Bledsoe Coal Co., Kentucky Prince, and James River Coal. His work ethic and dedication to his trade were exemplary, and he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues throughout his career.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Roger was deeply passionate about his hobbies. He enjoyed coon hunting and deer hunting, often finding solace in nature. He loved riding side-by-side and cherished the companionship of his dogs, cats, and his pet coon named Ringo. An avid gun collector, he also took great pleasure in spending quality time with his family, creating treasured memories that will forever be held dear.

Roger was a valued member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Yeaddiss, Kentucky, where he found community and support. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him through both the joys and challenges he faced.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Ollie Baker Coots, and his daughter, Stephanie Turnmire, who is married to Joe. He is also survived by his brother, Rick Coots & wife Tina, along with his sisters, Rita Coots, Corene Trent (Earl), Lois Coots, and Darlene Coots. Additionally, he leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Dylan Campbell and Hannah Turnmire, who adored him and will fondly remember their time together. Roger also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will greatly miss his presence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burvel and Virginia Collins Coots, as well as his infant brother, Melvin Coots, and his brother, Steve Coots.

Roger Coots will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, love for family, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. His legacy will live on through the countless memories shared and the impact he made on all who knew him.

Funeral: Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY

Interment: Roger & Ollie Coots Family Cemetery, Yeaddiss, KY
