Roger L. Cotsmire, 78, died early Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Altercare after being in their care for several months.

He was born June 10, 1947 in Bucyrus to the late Lee and Edith (Hildebrand) Cotsmire. Roger graduated from Bucyrus High School and retired from The Timken Co. after 30 years of employment. He married Kathleen McDaniel on October 24, 1970 and she survives.

Roger will be remembered as a kind family man who loved the Buckeyes and never passed on stopping at a garage sale. He loved Kathleen and liked whatever she liked (this is his secret to a happy marriage). They pulled a pop-up camper and traveled throughout the US and Canada. At home, he watched western movies, football, and played with his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He delivered Meals on Wheels and formerly attended church at Wayside Chapel and Lifeway Christian Fellowship.

Roger is survived by his bride of 55 years, Kathy Cotsmire; children, Doug Cotsmire, Daniel (Tracy) Cotsmire, and Timothy (Jody) Cotsmire; grandchildren, Jesse Cotsmire, Rebecka Clinard (Josh Laferty), Misty Clinard, Katelyn Cotsmire (Matt Barr), and Jeremy Cotsmire; great granddaughter, Zelma; and sister, Sandy (Ed) Wertz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Valerie Clinard.

Roger’s family is also appreciative of the care and attention Kathy’s family has given him over the years, especially since he became sick.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 10 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:25 pm. The funeral will begin at 12:30 pm with Certified Celebrant, Lisa Snyder officiating and burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions can be made payable to Meals on Wheels or National Multiple Sclerosis Society and given at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Roger’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
