Roger Dale Duncan, 80, of Franklinville passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 12, 1945 in Forsyth County, NC to Rudolph Evan Duncan and Rosa Lee Wear Duncan.
Roger was a man of many talents and passions; he could build, fix, or grow anything you asked or needed. He was a member of the North Carolina National guard for four years and honorably discharged with the rank as Sergeant E5. He was a member of Grays Chapel Methodist Church in Franklinville. Roger then worked 38 years for the Deep River Fire Department – 15 of those as their esteemed Fire Chief. He loved his dogs almost as much as he loved spending time and being with his grandchildren. Roger loved hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, and was an avid sportsman. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jennifer Duncan of the home; daughter, Karen Hinshaw (Jeff) of Greensboro; son, Tim Duncan (Janie) of Franklinville; grandchildren, Sadie Duncan of Franklinville, Kaelyn Hinshaw of Raleigh, Dillon Hinshaw of Chapel Hill; sister, Rita Elkins of Greensboro; and his beloved canine companions, Maggy Mae and Chloe.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:45 PM, Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Grays Chapel Methodist Church, 5056 NC-22, Franklinville, NC. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Johnny Lord and Reverend Lynn Chaney officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
