Roger Harold Eiford, 73, of Washougal, WA, passed away on Aug. 17, 2023. He was a kind, funny, and generous person, who had a zest for life. Roger loved spending time with his daughters and their families, as well as visiting his numerous exchange students that he hosted over the years. He had a special talent for finding his way to beer and ice cream.

Roger attended Evergreen High School and went on to pursue higher education at the University of Washington. He later became a pharmacist at Fred Meyer pharmacy, where he dedicated his career to helping others.
A celebration of life for Roger will be held on Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. at Skamania Lodge. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Youth for Understanding and PBS, organizations that were close to Roger’s heart.

I had the opportunity to meet Roger back in 2009 when i traveled to washougal as a foreign exchange student. Thanks to his kindness my experience in the U.S. was amazing, he was such a nice host dad. Lots of nice memories come to my mind, like the trip we had to Disneyland to celebrate Kate's birthday back i the day. May His soul rest in peace. My prayers and love to the Eiford Family, Kate and Nicole.

Roger took me in 2005/2006 as an exchange student at Washougal High School. He later took My younger brother in 2008 as well.

I have countless memories having fun with him, Kate, Nicole and all the family. I will always remember his generosity and sense for the family. He was always the one bringing everyone together; dinner, brunch at Skamania Lodge, a quick visit to aunt Claire in Camas or a visit to his sibilings up in Seattle.

Your legacy will always live with all of us who were fortunate enough to meet and spend time with you.

Nicole, Kate; we're deeply sorry for your loss and we'll always be appreciated of the warmth and kindness your dad and you gave us at your home.

Roger opened his home to me for the school year 2002/2003. Taking on another (!) teenage girl pretty much tells one everything there is to know.

He was an amazing hostdad, a great cook, a dedicated gardener and a passionate traveler.

He also taught me how to sew and made me fall in love with black tea.

His humor was one of kind and will be terribly missed, as will his laugh.

It has been 20 years and I have not only lost my hostdad, but also a wonderful friend.

I feel so blessed to have been visited by him in Germany many times and I am glad I could see him in person in Bellingham in March of last year.

As I cried into the tin with his divine brownies on the plane on my way home to Germany in 2003 I am crying now.

Roger, you will always have a special place in my heart.

I love you!

Roger was my best friend in 4th grade through high school. We had great fun on their farm pulling a car hood sled behind the tractor, riding horses, and "camping" by their pond. The world lost a good one. Godspeed Roger.
