Roger Farris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Freeman Mortuary - Jefferson City on Oct. 15, 2025.
Roger Lee Farris, age 72, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 9, 1953, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of James Paul and Bertha Ann (Luckenotte) Farris. He was married on December 18, 1989, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Paula Kay Smith. She survives at the home.
After receiving his GED, Roger went on to the Columbia Area Trucking School and later graduated in 1988. Roger then began his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He worked for several trucking companies including North American Freight Services, Art Bell Trucking and others. He retired in 2001 from ADS.
Roger was a man of many talents and an even bigger heart. He found joy in the great outdoors, especially when camping, fishing, or boating. A gifted woodworker, Roger crafted everything from furniture and picture frames to kitchen islands with skill and pride. His hands were rarely still-he could fix just about anything, including cars, and was the go-to handyman for family and friends. Roger was also a passionate league bowler who spent many happy hours at the Fulton Bowling Center, and a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan who rarely missed a game. His love for his furry friends was also something Roger relished. He cherished the times he spent with his dogs. He loved to travel, and during his years as a truck driver, he proudly made it to all 48 continental states. Some of his favorite places to relax were the beach, Mark Twain State Park, and the Osage River.
But above all, Roger cherished time with his family. Whether he was grilling BBQ, sharing a cup of coffee, or just joking around, he made every moment count. He cared deeply for those he loved, and his warmth, humor, and steady presence will be missed more than words can say.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Paula Farris; children, April Farris, Brenda Evers, Jim Farris (Julie), Jason Farris (Gaylin), Jason Gilbert (Anne), Shelby Weeces (Brian), and Angela Sullens (Justin); brother Forest "Dean" Farris (Theresa); grandchildren, Stephanie, Dameon, Mikoda, Natalie (Jack), Aubrianna, Heather (Caleb), Laycee, Zachary (Maycee), Carleigh, Joshua, Austin (Taylor), and Jazzmin; and great-grandchildren, Alice, Christopher, Counan, Cadance, Christian, Kimber, Cameron, Katana, Evelyn, Asher, Theresa "Tes", and Rosaleigh.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Bertha Farris; grandsons, Bradley and Justin Jr.; and his brothers, Herbert "Herbie" Farris, Charles "Charlie" Farris, George Farris, William "Bill" Farris, Stanley Farris, and Howard "Wesley" Farris.
A private service will be held for Roger at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Roger Farris Memorial Fund, 915 Madison Street, Jefferson City, Mo., 64101.
