Roger John Gardner March 16, 1947 - August 9, 2025
It is with great love and heavy hearts that we are announcing the passing of Roger Gardner, 78, of Port Orange, Florida, who left this world surrounded by his family and with peace in his heart. Roger, born March 16, 1947, in Queens, New York, the son of the Audrey and Howard Gardner.
Roger married Linda Gardner May 25, 1968, Roger and Linda moved from Massapequa, New York to Port Orange, Florida where Roger worked for Sears as refrigerator repairman, Volunteered for Port Orange Fire Department, Reserve Police Officer for the City of Ormond Beach, Code Enforcement for the City of Ormond Beach, and retired after 30 years as a Building Inspector at the City of Ormond Beach, Florida.
Roger loved model trains, he used the spare room of his home to set up his train table. Roger spent many hours building little towns on his train table. Roger had the love for camping and traveling in his RV's. Roger was a hardworking man, that could fix almost anything and could building and put things together without reading directions. Roger also spent a short time as a drafter; he designed a few homes and restaurants in the Port Orange area. Roger served his country in the United States Navy in 1967 on the USS Wasp in Charlestown, Massachusetts.
Roger is survived by wife Linda Gardner Port Orange, Florida; children Sheryl Gardner Roe Martinsville, Ohio, Kathleen Gardner Coomans Port Orange, Florida, and R.J. Gardner Frankin, Kentucky; sibling Patricia Mcfeeley Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren Andrew, Sarah, Rachel, Christian, and Taylor; great grandchildren Abriella, Amelia, Henry and Rose. He was preceded in death by his Parents Audrey and Howard Gardner.
Roger will be greatly missed by his family.
A private Memorial and Burial will be held December 12, 2025, 10am at Cape Canveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family request that, if so inclined, donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia County. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Roger, please visit our Tree Store.
