Roger Hughes passed away peacefully at the age of 65 on Sunday, July 20, 2025. He was born on August 28, 1959, in Gary, Indiana, to his loving parents Irey and Blanch Hughes (née Hunt).

Roger was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School and later dedicated over 20 years of his life working at Honey Baked Ham, where he was known for his strong work ethic and warm personality. He received Christ at an early age in Gary Indiana.

Roger had a vibrant spirit and a great love for life. He found joy in simple pleasures, especially spending time with his family, playing cards and singing along to Zapp & Roger songs. His laughter was a source of comfort, and his presence made every gathering brighter.

Roger will be deeply missed by his beloved children: Shamica, Randy, and Iridas, His devoted siblings: Evelyn, Linda, Lovetar, Jewel, and Larry (Ann). He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who cherished his friendship and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irey and Blanch, and his siblings: Neaphoyd, Garland, Elmore, Jeffery, Leo, Irey Jr. Norma, Doris, Gussie, and Mosa'Jo, Naomi.

A celebration of Roger's life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church, 3865 N 82nd Street. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m.

Roger's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
