Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.E. Pearson and Son Funeral Service, Inc. - Emporia on Oct. 21, 2025.
On October 20, 2025, at about 5:50 PM, the Lord sent an angel to escort our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather to his heavenly home.

Roger Ray Jordan was born November 20, 1939, to the late Howard and Florence Harris Jordan.

Roger joined Rising Star Baptist Church on September 5, 1982. He was president of the Trustee Ministry, the
operator of the Vide ministry and a member of the Diaconate Ministry. Ray was the go-to person whenever there was a problem that needed fixing. He drove the church bus for The Senior Circle and other local churches on many trips. He had a love for driving which led him to making weekend trips for Fox Bakery. In 1972 he was gainfully employed with Richfood, Inc, now Unifi. Deacon Jordan retired after 3o years in 2001.

Roger was educated in Greensville County Public School System. He had a love for cars and acquired many during his lifetime. He loved his corvette and would drive it until it got to hard for him to get in and out.

Ray had many titles. Affectionately called "Mister", "6 Million-Dollar Man" (Trucking Handle), "Pop", "Uncle Muscle", "Daddy" and "Grand Pop."

Along with his parents, Ray was preceded in death by four sisters: Susie Bullock, Constance Tillary, Annie Wise and Lennet Lebron, and one brother Kinston Jordan.

Roger leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 59 years, Barbara Harrison Jordan, two sons, Darrell Jordan of Emporia, VA and Christopher Jordan, Sr. (Vick) of Capron, VA, one daughter, April Hawthorne (Dwayne, Sr.) of Emporia, VA, six grandchildren: Brandon Jordan (Tamika), Christopher Jordan, Jr., Asia Tyler, Dwayne Hawthorne, Jr., Gloria Hawthorne snd Jordan Hawthorne, two great grandchildren, Ethan and Mason Jordan, four sisters: Dorothy Matthews of New Jersey, Lousie Dunn Cummings (Leon) of Summerville, SC, Christine McNeil of Coplay, PA and Shirley Worrell of Savannah, GA, his sisters-in-law: Rev. Jacqueline Jordan of Emporia, VA and Gloria Lewis of Englewood, NJ, brother-in-law, William Harrison (Virignia) of Lawrenceville, VA, seventeen nieces, twenty-one nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, to include two special friends: Ozell Powell and Randy Dupree.
