Roger King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Irvin Macz Funeral Home - Centralia on Jan. 30, 2026.
Roger Allen King, 80, of Centralia passed away surrounded by his family, Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 27, 1945, in Centralia - the son of Alva Sr. and Dorothy (Edwards) King. He married the love of his life, Shirley Veller in 1968.

Roger is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley King of Centralia, his son Garren King and wife Shelby of Lakeland, Fl, and daughter Lisa Wallace and husband Van of Seymore, IN; his grandchildren who had Grandpa wrapped around their fingers: Maddox, Anna, Remington, Stella and Maci; his Brother Alva "Bud" King of Sandoval; his sister-in-law Susie King of Centralia; fishing buddies Jerry, John and Mark; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Sr. and Dorothy King; his sisters, Betty Walker and Carol King; brother, John King; sister-in-law, Daisy King; and brother-in-law, Al Walker.

Roger served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. He worked for Ray Black and Son's construction for over 30 years - his co-workers were like his family. Roger loved hunting, fishing - but most of all his grandkids.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Central City Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Andereck McClelland Cemetery in rural Sandoval. Relatives and friends are welcome to the visitation, to offer condolences and share stories of Roger with his family, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made in Roger's honor to the St. Jude Children's Hospital and will be accepted for the family at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Online condolences and memories of Roger may be shared by visiting maczfuneralhomes.com and/or on the funeral home's Facebook page.
