Roger Louis McPherson

Roger Louis McPherson, born on August 30, 1956, in Baltimore City, MD, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Bolivia, NC, at the age of 68. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and service that touched the lives of all who knew him..
Roger devoted 25 years to serving retiring as a Lieutenant with the Baltimore City Fire Department, exemplifying courage and commitment in every call he answered. His steadfast dedication to his work was a beacon of inspiration, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to protecting others and serving his community with integrity and honor.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was an avid baseball player and fan, and he found great joy in coaching his daughters and granddaughters in softball. He also served as a referee for high school and AAA basketball games. In his retirement, Roger became a Bridge Tender for the Sunset Beach Swing Bridge, where he had the honor of being the last person to open the bridge before its final closure. He also served as a Board Member of the Old Bridge Historical Society in Sunset Beach, NC. Roger enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and spending meaningful time with his family and friends.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roger's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Linda L. (Schmitt) McPherson, whose partnership and love were a cornerstone of his life. His spirit and values live on through his daughters, Heather L. McPherson and Katherine J. (McPherson) Waldrop, who continue to carry forward his love and strength.
Roger's legacy extends to his cherished grandchildren, Destiny, Abagail & Emily Ashbrook, Charlie Waldrop, and great-grandson, Asher Rhodes, who brought immense joy to his life and will carry forward his memory with love and pride. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Joan Ruby, his supportive siblings, Kenneth McPherson and Kelly Ruby, and many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his warmth and kindness.
Although no services are planned at this time, Roger's family and friends will forever hold him in their hearts, celebrating the remarkable life he led and the enduring impact he made. His legacy of service and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
