Roger Morgan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jan. 28, 2026.
Roger Lynn Morgan, age 69, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 26, 2026. Roger was born on June 22, 1956, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital.

He was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his stepson, Matthew Harp and his wife Dollie; and their two children, Taylor and Logan. Roger was also blessed with two wonderful great-grandchildren, Krew and Navy O'Sullivan.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found hunting, fishing, or cutting wood at the cabin, where he enjoyed relaxing time with friends. He joined the Virginia Beach Fire Department on September 1, 1976. Roger served in many capacities within the department and was deployed to the Oklahoma City bombing as a member of Virginia Task Force 2. He retired after 30 years of service and continued to serve his community through his many mission trips with his church family. Roger traveled the world to locations such as South Africa, Budapest, Puerto Rico, and beyond, using his construction knowledge and skills to help improve the living conditions of others.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, from 5- 7 p.m at Graham Funeral Home and Crematory, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A service to celebrate Rogers life will be held Thursday, February 5, at River Oak Church at 1 p.m. Please visit grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence to the family.

I was saddened to learn of Roger's Passing. I knew Roger through the Va. Beach Fire Department. He and I worked together a few times, but we knew each other when we were volunteers. He was one of a kind, and he will be missed by many of us in the Va. Beach Fire Department. To his family, please know how well thought of, and respected he was in the fire department, and all who knew him. Rest in peace my friend.
